MAC Velvet Teddy Drugstore Dupe!

 

One of the most currently popular lipstick's from MAC is Velvet Teddy - which as we all know, recently become more popular thanks to Kylie Jenner. I've recently decided to jump on the bandwagon and purchase this lip colour, which I am kicking myself for not having done so sooner. But oh my goodness, it is beautiful! It's such a pretty everyday nude colour, with slight pink tones to it. I have also realised that I do have an exact dupe for for this colour too, which is from the drugstore - so is a fraction of the price!

The dupe I have found is one of the Maybelline Color Drama lip pencils in the shade 'Nude Perfection'. Swatched and worn on the lips, they look exactly the same. Both are a matte finish and not drying at all.

In the above picture, I decided to wear both on the lips at the same time. You can't tell any difference between the two. So if you are after a more budget version of Velvet Teddy, and don't fancy paying the full price of £15.50, then I would definitely recommend the Maybelline dupe, which only costs £4.99! I personally have found that the Maybelline Lip pencil lasts just as long on the lips as Velvet Teddy does.





Sleek Nautical Collection

I have a new limited edition collection of products that I brought recently from the brand Sleek. This collection is the Nautical Collection, which I was immediately attracted to as I love anything with a nautical, mermaid, sailor style theme. Not to mention the colours of all the products looked amazing!

The collection is currently priced at £19.99, even though when I got it, it was £22.99 - which is annoying for me! The only downside to this collection is that it is a limited edition collection, so will only be available while stocks last. So if you want it, go buy it now! Also it is a website exclusive, so I believe you can only buy this from the Sleek website. I'll leave a link to this collection down at the bottom of this post!

You can buy all of the items in this collection separately too, so if you only want one or two products, you don't have to buy the whole collection to get them. So in the collection you get an eyeshadow palette, a blush by 3 palette, and a lipstick. All of which are beautiful products. I have also done a makeup look on my YouTube channel using all the items in this collection, so if you want to see that, that will also be linked at the end of this post.

The eyeshadow palette in this collection is called 'Calm before the storm' and costs £7.99. It has some typical nautical themed colours in it, such as the greens and blues, but it also has some everyday neutral colours too which are very pretty. The eye shadows are pigmented (some of the darker ones I wish could of been a bit more pigmented) and they are a little powdery. But they don't seem to have any fall down which is good.

The blush by 3 palette is called 'Santa Marina' and costs £10. This palette has 3 pretty colours in, which I'm not sure if you can buy these blushers separate, or if they are exclusive to the collection. My favourite one of the bright orange coral, which is perfect for summer!

Finally in this collection, you get a lipstick called 'Reddy to sail', and it is £4.99. This is a gorgeous orange toned red, which I think is perfect for summer. It is a semi matte finish, and isn't drying at all. It goes perfectly with the lip liner in 'rouge' from the Eau La La liners (in the swatches above, it is the one at the bottom).

I really like the products in this collection and love the different looks you can create with it. I don't usually buy limited edition collections, but on this occasion I am really glad I did.

I would definitely recommend this, and go get it while it's in stock!

MAC 'Rebel' Dupe

The lipstick 'Rebel' by MAC, probably has to be one of the best autumn lip colours EVER! 
I recently purchased it and have become obsessed by it! It's the perfect berry purple and just screams autumn! However...I have now come across a dupe for this lipstick. And this dupe happens to only cost £1!!

The dupe in question is called 'Rebel with a cause' and its by Makeup Revolution. Makeup Revolution do a lot of dupes for higher end brands such as Too Faced, Urban Decay & Stila. And they are blooming amazing at it! I love their products because they are so cheap and yet they are high end quality. I guessed that this lipstick would be a dupe for Rebel, seeing as the name of it would also suggest so too! I decided to buy it seeing as it was only £1!

Makeup Revolution 'Rebel with a cause' £1



So as you'll be able to see from the above pictures, the two lipsticks look exactly the same. They are the exact same shade of colour and I do believe that the Makeup Revolution lipstick was made to be an exact dupe of Rebel. The two lipsticks do have some differences though, and that can really weigh up the decision of what one would be best to buy.

MAC's 'Rebel' is a satin finish lipstick - meaning its neither matte nor creamy, but more in-between the two. MAC lipsticks are very pricey as many of you I'm sure will know! And recently the prices seem to have gone up again to £15.50. This lipstick is so pigmented and so easy to apply. It does sometimes bleed a little, so is always best to use a lip liner prior to applying it. The staying power is fantastic - it stays on for hours and you barely need to touch it up, even after eating and drinking. 

Makeup Revolutions 'Rebel with a cause' is such a fantastic dupe, and it only costs you £1 which is amazing. The colour is exactly the same, however the finish is different. It is more of a creamy lipstick, so therefore is not going to stay on your lips anywhere near as long as rebel does. It's really easy to apply and doesn't need lip liner as much as rebel does, however using a lip liner would probably help to make the lipstick stay on longer.

The two lipsticks are both fantastic and are also both worth purchasing. If you are on more of a budget, I would obviously recommend the Makeup Revolution dupe. And the same if you are wanting to try out Rebel, but are not sure if the colour will suit you. If you want more of a long lasting lipstick, then rebel is for you! It will obviously cost you a whole lot more than the dupe, but it will last longer and you will honestly fall in love with it. 
I think both lipsticks are fantastic, but which one you choose depends on you and what you are willing to pay. I would recommend both though, and I know I will get a lot of use out of them this Autumn!!

NYX Butter Lipstick Review

I am a big fan of NYX makeup! If you are not familiar with NYX, they are a makeup brand that do fantastic products for decent prices. I would say their price range of product would be inbetween drugstore and high-end. So they are affordable, but I like to buy stuff from them every now and again as a treat, as the prices can soon add up! 
For quite a while now, I have been a HUGE fan of their Butter Glosses. They are highly pigmented glosses, that look and smell amazing. I am pretty much obsessed with them!
So when I discovered that NYX had created Butter Lipsticks, this was something that excited me alot! However there is one downside to this new creation....they currently don't stock these in the UK yet. NYX is an American makeup brand, so they obviously get the new releases alot quicker than we do! So with no release date in the UK set yet, I had to take a different approach to get my hands on these much wanted lipsticks!

Luckily enough, there is an american website called cherryculture.com that stocks these lipsticks, and they also ship to the UK. So I decided to place an order with them, and I got my hands on these beauties!

These retail at around $6 in the US, but I was lucky enough to get them on sale for $4.50!
I managed to get myself some beautiful colours and instantly fell in love with them!

These lipsticks are super moisturising - so great if you have dry lips! They are also super pigmented! What I love about these, is that usually with creamy/moisturising lipsticks, they wear off the lips very quickly, but these last! I've never had such a moisturising lipstick with such lasting power! And they are also don't go patchy, so whilst they are starting to wear off throughout the day, they still maintain their colour and coverage of the lips. I would say the lasting power of these lipsticks is around 4 hours til you need to touch them up - alot longer than my MAC ones! I think these are fantastic for such a low price. They look glossy and go onto the lips like silk. They feel really creamy and don't stick to dry patches at all. They do a fantastic colour range, and I can't wait til these are released in the UK! I would totally recommend them, especially if you love the Butter glosses!

Milani Lipstick Review

I'm sorry I haven't been around on my blog for a little while - the month of December has been super stressful and unfortunately I haven't found the time to blog. However, today I am back with a review of some lipsticks I brought about a month ago. They are by the brand Milani and I've heard loads of US youtubers talking about these, so I wanted to try these for myself! Milani is a drugstore brand in the US, so you can't get these lipsticks in the UK, but you can order them online. I got mine though amazon but the seller is a website called beauty joint. Find them at www.beautyjoint.com

I got four colours: (L-R) fruit punch, red label, best red and nude Creme. I really love the finish these lipsticks give, it's creamy and moisturising, yet not too over the top. They also have a watermelon scent to them and the lasting power is amazing, these stay on a lot longer than any other lipsticks I own. You would be able to get a good four hours wear out of them without needing to reapply. And that's even with eating and drinking! The lipsticks all come in different finishes, all of mine apart from 'best red' are cream finishes, 'best red' is a matte finish. I usually NEVER buy lipsticks with a matte finish because they never suit me, but this one is brilliant, it applies easily and isn't drying. The lipsticks were around £4 on amazon, but you can get them slightly cheaper if you buy them direct from the beauty joint website. I already want to buy some more of these, I've eyed up some colours I want! But these lipsticks really are fantastic - perfect if you want to try out a different brand! They are worth every penny!

Favourite autumn lip colours!

Recently I have been a bit obsessed with all things autumnal. I have been loving the change from the summer to autumn and I can quite safely say autumn is my favourite season! I find when autumn arrives I not only change up my clothing, but also my makeup and nail colours! So today I thought I would share my favourite autumn lip colours!

The other day I was reading a magazine and in the fashion section I noticed a green lipstick and thought who the hell would wear that! But upon further reading, I discovered it was a lipstick that changes to a pink shade that suits your lips best! And of course it was no surprise to me that this lipstick was by the brand that does all things funky and unsual, Barry M!! So I had to pick up this lipstick to try out because I thought it was an amazing idea. I love pink lipsticks but I often find it hard to find one that is not too light or too dark. But this is where this lipsticks shines, because as you apply it, it comes out clear and very quickly turns to a shade of pink that suits your lips best. If you reapply another layer, the colour intensifies. It is almost like a lip stain too, as the colour seems to last on your lips for ages! You can pick this up from anywhere that sells Barry M for £4.49! If you like things funky and different, or if you just want a pink lipstick that is the perfect colour for you, I suggest to go and buy it!
